Terminology

As a lot of observations are difficult to describe in well-defined technological quantities, I introduce some of the terminology I most commonly use. The following table gives an indication of the terminology used to describe frequency ranges.



Excess or deficiency of a certain frequency range can be checked by the following extensive list (from the SALT manual):

The character of the sound (especially of the voice), can be described in terms of formants.
